Scientists Have Discovered A Drug That Blocks AIDS

Scientist at the Gladstone Institutes have identified the precise chain of molecular events in the human body that drives the death of most of the immune system’s CD4 T cells as an HIV infection leads to AIDS.

Nigeria Might Expire Today At 12 Midnight?

Controversies ruled the polity, yesterday, over whether or not Nigeria will cease to exist as a legal entity after 12 midnight today.
A conglomeration of ethnic nationality groups said going by the Amalgamation Treaty of January 1, 1914, which joined Northern and Southern protectorates to create Nigeria with a life span of 100 years, the country will expire at 12 a.m. today.
Professor Akin Oyebode, a lawyer, said Nigeria will not expire because the amalgamation was not put in place by a treaty, but by an order in council by the British Parliament.
Oyebode has a soul mate in legal icon, Professor Itse Sagay (SAN), who argued that there was no law that automatically gives a treaty 100 years life span.
However, the ethnic nationalities, which included Federation of Oodua People, Middle Belt Congress, Lower Niger Congress and Oporoza House, which congregated on the banner of Movement for New Nigeria, MNN, insisted that Nigeria would become history after today and urged all Nigerians to embrace the national conference to agree on fresh terms of co-existing.
They spoke at a briefing held at Freedom Park, Lagos. Present at the briefing were Elder Fred Agbeyegbe, Co-coordinator; Tony Nnadi, Secretary-General; Mrs Hilda Dokubo, Timi Kaiser Ogoriba, Chief Dan Ekpebide, Abuka Onalo, Ambah Binaebi, Shade Olukoya and Leye Akinmodiro.

Russia: 15 Killed In Volgograd Bus Blast

At least 15 people – including a one-year-old child – have been killed in an explosion on a trolley bus in Volgograd, the second fatal attack on the southern Russian city within 24 hours.
The blast comes just a day after a female suicide bomber killed 10 people and injured dozens at a train station in the southern Russian city.
Investigators say the latest attack is an act of terror.
The attack come 40 days before Russia is to hold the Winter Olympics in the Black Sea resort city of Sochi.

New Regent of Akure installed

AKURE —  A new regent, Princes Adetutu Adesida Ojei was yesterday installed to fill the stool of the Deji of Akure which became vacant  on December 1, this year. Princes Ojei, after the installation, assured all sons and daughters of Akure that she was ready for the big task ahead with God on her side.
Meanwhile, the family of the battered wife of the deposed Oba, Prince Oluwadare Adesina, Olori Bolanle, who is now late, has appealed to the state government and the council of chiefs in Akure to consider his reinstatement appeal.
The battering of late Bolanle by the deposed monarch on May 30, 2010, lead to his removal and banishment on June 10, 2010 by the state government.
However, the occupier of the stool that was vacant on December 1, the late Oba Adebiyi Adesida, joined his ancestors after reigning for three years and three months.
Princes Ojei, a pharmacist based in the United Kingdom, is the  first female child of the late Oba Adesida. Speaking with newsmen after her installation, the regent said it was a privilege to step into her father’s shoes.

Iyetade Soyinka, a daughter of Nobel laureate Wole Soyinka, has died. Ms. Soyinka, who was born June 6, 1965, died at the University of Ibadan Teaching Hospital where she was being treated for an undisclosed ailment.
The death was disclosed in a statement signed by Jahman Anikulapo, an aide to Mr. Soyinka, one of the world’s foremost dramatists and winner of the 1986 Nobel Prize in literature. The statement noted that the late Iyetade Soyinka was a student at the Staff School and Queens School, Ibadan before she studied Medicine at the University of Ibadan.

GOD’S MIRACLES: Cow With 5 Legs Grants Baby Boys To Pregnant Women! (+PHOTO)

Raj Pratap’s three-year-old male calf, called Raju, now is a star in Raipur, India, since a woman with four daughters touched the animal’s fifth hoof and begged for her next child to be a boy.
The woman delivered twin boys in February this year, word soon spread that the calf’s fifth leg. Raju’s anomaly  a very rare condition which affects just one in every five million cows.
Since news got out about the fifth leg, Mr Pratap, a cattle herder, has been swamped by pregnant women who pay to touch the hoof with 30 women so far stumping up around 500 rupees, around £5, for the privilege.
All the 30 women delivered boys. The owner of the cow is so confident of his ‘miracle calf’ that he offers refunds if the baby born is a girl.
On December 23, the cow celebrated its 33rd victory, after the woman who touched its ‘magical hoof’ gave birth to triplets….all of them boys.
It should be pointed out that in India boys are ‘more valued’ than girls as they have ‘greater earning potential’ to support the family.

Man Fights Crocodile With Bare Hands To Save Son In Zimbabwe (PICTURED)

A Mutoko father dived into a river and fought a crocodile with his bare hands to save the life of his 11-year-old son who had been seized while crossing Nyaitengwa River. Mr Tafadzwa Kachere and his son, Tapiwa (11) were both seriously injured in the battle and were yesterday admitted at Chitungwiza Central Hospital.
Tapiwa’s left leg had to be amputated, while his father’s left hand is badly hurt. Mr Kachere, who stays in Katiyo 1 Village under Chief Nyajina, said the crocodile attacked while they were on their way home from his garden.

 Governor Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole survived a motor accident at Ewu Village along the ever-busy Benin-Auchi road in Edo State at about 9.45am Saturday, 28th December 2013 on his way back to Benin City from his Iyamho Village. The incident occurred at about 9.45am at Ewu, in Edo Central Senatorial District, when a Peugeot J5 Bus filled with tomatoes and plantains apparently lost control and rammed into the Governor’s Flag Car from the opposite direction before swerving into a roadside ditch.

Man Arrested For Allegedly molesting, Impregnating 14-Year-Old Daughter

The Police in Lagos State said it had arrested a 36-year old man who allegedly molested and impregnated his 14-year old daughter.
 The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Ngozi Braide, made this known when she briefed Journalists in Ikeja on Friday.
Ms. Braide said the girl had been pregnant for the past two months and that the man claimed to be bewitched. She added that the mother of the girl divorced her father seven years ago.

Bimbo, staff of a new generation bank in Lagos was said to have accused her husband of not taking care of her and their only child, Opeoluwa. The husband disagreed and while fighting, Bimbo allegedly seized her husband’s joystick and sliced it with a knife. Bimbo denied using a knife but her fingernails to teach her husband a lesson on how not to treat a woman. The ugly incident happened on Monday at their Falolu Street, Surulere home.
The matter was reported to the police at Surulere station and the woman was arrested. In her statement to the police, Bimbo denied using a knife on her husband’s joystick but her fingernails.
She was later released on bail when her husband insisted that he was not interested in pressing charges against her.

SHOCKING: Househelp Forcefully Delivers 6-Month-Old Baby (PHOTOS)

A very scary event took place recently at Utak Street, off Nkemba Street, in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. Three months ago, a busy working class single mum employed a 17-year-old girl to help take care of her 2-year-old daughter.
Recently, while the lady was engrossed with a TV programme, her daughter needed attention and she called the help more than three times and the help kept responding that she was in the toilet.
When it became unnecessarily too long, she tiptoed into the help’s room and opened the toilet door.
To her horror, she met the help squatting with blood all over the bathroom with a stillborn newly delivered baby hanging in-between her legs. She screamed and ran out of her apartment into the street.
The entire neighbourhood came out and it took the intervention of neighbours to calm her down. The neighbours also helped rushed the help to the hospital.
While in the hospital, she refused treatment and claimed she drank herbs and was given some to insert in her v**ina to force the baby out. The help said she was warned not to allow orthodox medical treatment.
When asked, the help explained that the pregnancy was six months old. Her employer said she didn’t know she was pregnant as she is a very slim girl and she thought that the small protruding tummy was just an evidence of good living with her. She was smart in discharge of her duties, so there was nothing to suspect.
The help was sent parking afterward.

Christmas Tragedy Occurs In Lagos And Cross River States

It was a bloody Christmas celebration in Lagos and Cross River states as no fewer than nine persons were killed in auto accidents on Tuesday night and on Wednesday morning.
Five people comprising a baby, her mother, two brothers and a driver died on Wednesday in the Lagos State accident, while four youths died in the Cross River accident.
In Lagos, our correspondent learnt that apart from the five people that perished on Christmas day, another lady suffered a fracture after a container which was on an articulated truck fell on a commercial bus on Alaba Suru Road in the Ajeromi-Ifelodun area of Lagos.
Eyewitnesses said the baby, her mother, the two brothers and the bus driver, who were victims of the accident, were returning from the Lagos Island.

A Nigerian doctor practicing in the United Kingdom has been found guilty of assault on a female patient.
Abiodun Olumuyiwa Bale, 42, grabbed Sheena Cunningham to prevent her from leaving his office in tears.
The incident is said to have occurred after Mrs. Cunningham disagreed with Dr. Bale over a diagnosis he had given.
Daily Mail reports:
The doctor from Nigeria denied assault when he appeared in court but was found guilty after a two-day trial. Dr. Bale denied being a ‘thug’ at the hearing.
He was given a six-month conditional discharge but will face a disciplinary hearing at work and could lose his job.
Bale, who qualified as a doctor at the University of Lagos in 1995, worked as a gynaecologist in his home country before coming to Britain and registering with the General Medical Council in 2006.

In a suit with number MI/1516C/2013, the accused persons were said to have “conspired together to commit felony to wit defilement, contrary to and punishable under section 516 of the criminal code cap 38 vol. 2 laws of Oyo State of Nigeria 2000.”
