CR7- a generally accepted shortened form of Cristiano Ronaldo 7- has become the name of a galaxy.
Ronaldo may have concluded another trophy-less campaign with Real Madrid but has not stopped short of inspiring astronomer, Dr. David Sabral, to name the galaxy Cosmos Redshift 7 after the three-time Ballon d’Or winner.

In a paper published in The Astronomical Journal, CR7 has been existing since the Bing Bang by only 800 million years, which when compared to the age of the universe is estimated at approximately 14 billion years (calculation in accordance with the cosmological model based on the Hubble constant and certain densities of quantum particles) and 4 billion years, when compared to the the age of the earth.

Real Madrid were runners-up in the Spanish La Liga, knocked out in the last 16 of the Copa deal Rey and reached the last-4 of the European Champions League, while rivals Barcelona secured all three trophies.
However, the naming of the Galaxy has nonetheless qualified Ronaldo as an honorary inductee to Los Galacticos.
