THE alleged mastermind behind the rape of the two daughters (names withheld) of the Councillor for Ndiagu Echara Ward I in Ikwo Local Lovernment Area of Ebonyi State, Mrs Margret Elom, was, yesterday, arrested by the operatives of state police command in Abakaliki.The state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr Sylvester Igbo, who confirmed the arrest of the suspect, Mr Sunday Otah,
the Vice Chairman Ikwo council, said that he (suspect) was arrested based on the confessional statements by another suspect, Sunday Nwaokponkwu, allegedly involved in the rape saga.
It would be recalled that the suspects, who came at night when their victims were already asleep, allegedly raped them in turns at gun point after allegedly stealing N50,000, nine different handset and a Carter motorcycle from them.According to Igbo, police investigation would determine whether Otah was involved in the rape incident or not.“The Police today (yesterday) arrested the alleged mastermind of the rape incident that took place in Ikwo council of the state. When we interrogated him, he denied involving in the incident, saying it was political motivated.“If our investigation proves that he is guilty, he will be charged to court but meanwhile, we are still investigating the matter.”
