When contacted, the spokesman of STF, Captain Salisu Mustapha confirmed the incident, saying “a mobile police attached to STF shot dead his colleague who is also a mobile police officer in Jos Riyom LGC,” adding that it was not clear what informed the shooting and killing of his colleague.
He said that the accused officer has been arrested and is being investigated to ascertain the motive behind the killing.
Plateau State Police Commissioner, Mr. Chris Olakpe, said that investigations were on to ascertain the cause of the incident.
He said, “I am right now addressing the men to calm them down so that the incident will not dampen their spirit. We will not like anything that will affect their morale, especially at this time we are preparing for a crucial task of the local government elections in the state. The incident is highly regrettable and we want to ensure that it does not happen again."
