Celebrities campaigning for aspiring political leaders have since become a trend in Nigeria and many artistes long to be approached by politicians because it is another form of money-making avenue for them.
In some of these cases, some artistes sell their conscience for money.
According to The Nation, masked music artiste, Lagbaja recently turned down an offer by the campaign organisation of Senator Iyiola Omisore to entertain supporters at a rally in Osun State, ahead of the August 9 gubernatorial election in the state. The rally is expected to have President Goodluck Jonathan.

It was reported that Lagbaja turned down the offer because he feels Omisore, who is aspiring to be the next Osun State governor, allegedly has a hand in the death of late Minister of Justice, Chief Bola Ige, who was featured in one of Lagbaja’s songs.
Lagbaja was quoted to have said, “Though the court of the land discharged and acquitted you (Omisore) in the murder case against the former minister of justice in Nigeria, the late Cicero of Esa-Oke and foremost nationalist Chief Bola Ige, I have deep-rooted innermost conviction that you are culpable in the death of my mentor and benefactor.”

The musician was also reported to have said even “If you (Omosore) offer me all the allocation of Osun state during your four-year tenure, peradventure you win (which I seriously doubt), I will not perform for Iyiola Omisore governorship election.”
