Four suspected armed robbers on Wednesday met their waterloo following an encounter with a police patrol team along the Kano-Zaria road.
Addressing a press conference yesterday at the Bompai Police headquarters, the state Commissioner of Police, Aderinle Shinaba, said that the men of the underworld were in the process of wreaking havoc while people were celebrating Christmas.
The robbers were operating at Kwanar Dan-Gora, some 30 Kilometers away from the Kano city centre.
Mr. Shinaba said that the suspected robbers opened fire on sighting the police van near Kariya village, close to Nigeria Law School in Bagauda, Kano, which resulted in their death as the police responded with superior firepower.

“In the course of our special patrol in the night on Kwanar Dangora road towards the Law school, our team had an encounter with armed robbers.
‘’We were able to stumble on them on the highway and in the ensuing shootout, four of them died in the course of the exchange of fire”, he said.
The police boss said that several others ran away as three pistols, rounds of ammunition as well charms and amulet were recovered from the robbers.
He also urged residents to continue with their celebrations of Christmas and New Year as law enforcement agents are on top of any situation that may arise.
The police commissioner further called on residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious individual, activity or object to the nearest police station or check point.
