Oni’s Defection To APC Good Riddance To Bad Rubbish – PDP

Segun Oni
The recent defection of former Ekiti State governor, Mr. Segun Oni to the All Progressives Congress, APC, is an acknowledgment of the intimidating profile of the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Ayo Fayose, his campaign organisation has said.
The Director General of Ayo Fayose Campaign Organization, AFCO, Mr. Owoseni Ajayi, said this in a statement on Tuesday.

The campaign organisation also described Oni’s exit from the PDP as “good riddance to bad rubbish”.
Oni’s defection from PDP to APC might be his way of repaying Fayose in his own coin for abandoning him (Oni) in the 2009 rerun supplementary election to work with Kayode Fayemi, of the now defunct Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, who eventually won.
Fayemi, who is the flag bearer of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the June 21 governorship poll of Ekiti, has received assurances from Oni that he would work with him for the success of his re-election.
The statement by AFCO read in part, “Ekiti State Peoples Democratic Party will not miss Mr. Segun Oni. He is free to take along with him other directionless followers with him to the APC.
“We have no regret over Oni’s departure. He is of the ACN, just returning to where he was before he was imposed as the PDP candidate in 2007.
“If Oni is spiritual enough, he would know that it is the table that is turning back to its original take-off point of 2006.  We wish to remind him that the likes of Dayo Adeyeye, Bisi Kolawole, Dipo Anisulowo, Ojuawo, Aborisade, Tunde Adeniran, Biodun Olujimi and Ayo Arise, who he can call his foot soldiers, are with us in Ekiti PDP”.
