Arsenal Agree Deal With Real Madrid On Khedira

* Khedira
Less than a week after snapping up Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona, reports in Spain are saying Arsenal have agreed a deal for Sami Khedira.

It was reports last week that Chelsea were planning to hijack the Gunners for the Real Madrid man, but with this latest report, Arenal’s coach, Arsene Wenger has taken the biggest step yet to securing the defensive midfield player after allegedly agreeing a £23m fee with the Spanish giants.

The German international, who missed last night’s World Cup final after suffering an injury in the warm-up, has been a target for Wenger this summer.

According to a report published by Catalan daily newspaper Sport  on Monday, 14 July, 2014, the deal between Real Madrid and Arsenal, could see Arsenal drop their interest in Bayer Leverkusen’s Lars Bender.

However, it was reported that Arsenal still have to agree personal terms with Khedira, with the 27-year-old believed to be demanding £150,000-per-week.

If the move goes through, Khedira will join fellow Germans – and now world champions – Mesut Ozil, Lukas Podolski and Per Mertesacker at the Emirates, as well as youngster Serge Gnabry.
In a related development, Arsenal are reportedly hoping to announce the signing of right-back Mathieu Debuchy at some point later today, 14 July, 2014.

The Gunners were thought to be keen on a deal for Toulouse’s Serge Aurier but it seems Debuchy will be the man to replace Bacary Sagna.

The deal is thought to be costing Arsenal around the £10 million mark.

Also, the Gunners are set to complete the signing of goalkeeper David Ospina by the end of this week as a back up to Wojciech Szczesny.

The Colombian Nice goalkeeper is expected to complete a £3 million move to the Emirates Stadium.

Also, Fiorentina boss Vincenzo Montella has come out to state that the future of Juan Cuadrado is in the player’s hands after speculation linked the player to Arsenal.

The 26-year-old enjoyed a stunning World Cup with Colombia and is a reported target for the Gunners, as well as Barcelona, Bayern Munich and a host of other European clubs.

Montella told Sky Sport Italia: "We need to evaluate the player’s aspirations and, above all, if there is a club out there that can pay what he is truly worth."

It would be recalled that after signing Sanchez from Barcelona last week, Wenger said: “As many people have seen during the World Cup this summer, Alexis is a fantastic footballer and we are delighted that he is joining us at Arsenal Football Club. “Alexis will add power, creativity and much quality to our squad and we are all looking forward to him joining up with us in a few weeks. He has consistently produced top-quality performances at the highest level for a number of seasons now and we are all excited to see him integrate into the Arsenal squad. I’m sure all Arsenal supporters will join me in welcoming Alexis to our club.”

In his response, the Chilean superstar stated: “I’m so happy to be joining Arsenal, a club which has a great manager, a fantastic squad of players, huge support around the world and a great stadium in London. I’m looking forward to meeting my new team-mates and to be playing for Arsenal in the Premier League and Champions League. I will give my best to Arsenal and want to make all the supporters happy.”
