The Lille goalkeeper has confessed that he may have played his last game for the Super Eagles
Nigeria goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama has admitted that he is considering quitting the national team following Monday’s World Cup exit to France.
The Lille man conceded two late goals as the Super Eagles were eliminated from the tournament in the second round.
Enyeama had been tipped to become the new captain of Nigeria after Joseph Yobo retired from international football, but the 31-year-old is contemplating his next step.
“It is a big honour to wear the [captain’s] armband for the national team,” Enyeama told SuperSport.
“But at some point you need to say, ‘okay I take some years off, maybe I take some months off, maybe I call it quits’. I will sit down with my wife and decide what to do next.
“Maybe it was my last game."
Nigeria went down 2-0 to France in Brasilia, with a Paul Pogba header and a Yobo own goal in injury time clinching victory for the 1998 champions.
