Impeachment Update: Nyako In Secret Meeting with Lawmakers

I told you guys on Thursday that Governor Murtala Nyako is not giving up. The faceoff between the governor and some lawmakers of the Adamawa State House of Assembly may have a happy ending for all.
The governor finally swore in 36 development area administrators at the Government House, Yola. This came a few hours after the governor returned to the state from Abuja, where he had held a closed-door meeting with some of the lawmakers led by the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.
Investigations reveal that the failure of Governor Nyako to endorse the list of the development area administrators brought to him by the lawmakers was part of the contention that degenerated into the impeachment move.
According to Leadership, the swearing-in of the administrators is believed to be part of an effort to fulfil part of the rapprochement entered between Governor Nyako and the lawmakers in Abuja as a way of staving off the impeachment threat against the governor and his deputy, Bala Ngillari.

Meanwhile, Governor Nyako has appointed former secretary of the PDP, Mr PP Elisha, as his Senior Special Adviser on government affairs. Many saw the appointment as a payback to the appointee who stood solidly behind the governor while the impeachment saga lasted.

Constituency rejects Ramadan gift from anti-Nyako lawmakers
Some lawmakers who participated in the impeachment move against Governor Nyako are facing the wrath of their constituencies as many rejected the Ramadan gifts presented to them by their lawmakers.

The constituencies took the measure to protest the involvement of their lawmakers in the plot to impeach Nyako and his deputy. “That is not what we sent them there to do,” said a resident of Mubi, Mallam Idris Haruna. “The people of Mubi have decided to reject the Ramadan gift from their member to show him their disappointment over his involvement to remove Governor Nyako and his deputy.”
