Chelsea offer Terry one-year contract

Chelsea offer Terry one-year contract
The club captain has been offered a new deal which would see him remain at Stamford Bridge, though he is still to discuss it with his family before signing

Chelsea have confirmed club captain John Terry has been offered a new one-year contract, though no agreement has been reached.

The centre-back revealed in January that he could leave the Blues, having received no communication over a new contract, and has been expected to bring an end to a 21-year association with the west London side.

However, Chelsea maintained that the former England captain's future had not been decided and have moved to offer him a new deal, revealing the news in Guus Hiddink's press conference on Friday.

And interim coach Hiddink, who said this week that Terry is good enough to remain at the club, says he believes the decision to offer him a new deal is the right one.

"Ex-players are having a lot of say in the culture of a club," the Dutchman said. "They like to come back in whatever task they can do - I am in favour of that.
