Why APC chose Ngige as candidate – Okorocha

APC NGIGE
There were disclosures yesterday why Senator Chris Ngige was chosen as the consensus candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, for the Anambra governorship election slated for November 16.

APC NGIGEAccording to Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, who led Ngige to APC campaign rally in Awka on Friday, his choice was a demonstration of the fact that the Igbo can agree on a common issue.
The Imo governor said many people had thought the Igbo are so disorganised that they cannot agree or on constant disagreement. Okorocha stressed that Ngige’s choice was a proof to the world that Ndigbo agree among themselves as Igbo.
His words: “These are the new generation of Ndigbo trying to chant a new song other than the old song of selfishness. We intend to reason together.
“What happened between Senator Annie Okonkwo and his brother Ngige is simply what we describe as sacrifice in the highest level. Now, one of them decided to lead the campaign of the other despite the fact that the two of them are the major forerunners in the election under APC.
“So, in the discussion that we had in which God himself intervened in the campaign, we were able to resolve the matter and the two brothers understood that the two of them can never be governors at the same time.
One has to give way for the other and that is why Senator Okonkwo has accepted to lead the campaign of Senator Ngige, just to ensure that victory will come and to portray to the whole world that indeed the Igbo are a united front.
“Our generation can never be considered as a generation of failure; if the leaders in the past have not made it we will make it. For us, it is a determination; we have resolved that for the Igbo young men coming up, we will not let this General of Ndigbo down.”
He stated that though there would be APC gubernatorioal primaries on September 2, Okonkwo has decided to lead the campaign of Ngige.
“That is the spirit with which Ndigbo are going to the next election and politics in Nigeria. Now is the time for Ndigbo and APC is saying change.
The change in our slogan means Oge eruola maka odinma Ndigbo (Time has come for the good of the Igbo). “This is the time for Ndigbo and there is no other time and Igbo man will have a say in Nigerian politics than this time.
For me the two brothers are here for the purpose of good leadership and you can see that these two people are political giants and their records show that they are quite different from others. These are the people for the generation of Igbo land.
