Eto’o accepts £10m-a-year pay cut to rejoin Mourinho at Chelsea
Cameroon striker Samuel Eto’o, has arrived in London, ahead of his move to Chelsea.
The 32-year-old who previously worked with Blues boss Jose Mourinho at Inter Milan, will sign a stunning £7million one-year deal on Thursday, after the Blues accepted defeat in their pursuit of Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney. Eto’o's contract at Stamford Bridge, means he will be taking a huge pay cut from the £17m a year he earned at Anzhi – which made him the world’s best paid player.
However, the Russian club are believed to have paid him a multi-million pound lump sum, to sweeten the deal, in their desperation to get him off their wage bill.
Eto’o was pictured at London’s St Pancras station on Wednesday night with super-agent Pini Zahavi and will have a medical at Chelsea’s training ground, before putting pen to paper.
