PATIENCE JONATHAN’S ABUJA RALLY: Returning Lagos PDP woman leader dies in fatal auto crash

UNKNOWN to many, the peace rally held by the First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, at the Eagle Square, Abuja, penultimate Thursday ended on a tragic note. A woman leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State, Princess Abigael Adisa, who was part of the contingent from the state to the rally, died in a motor accident on her way back to Lagos after the rally. Five other PDP supporters, who were travelling with her, were also critically injured.
The 56-year-old woman, who until the tragic incident, was the Coordinator of Women for Change and Development Initiative (WCDI) in Ifako/Ijaiye Local Government Area, Lagos State, according to sources, had travelled to Abuja in her Toyota Sienna car. She was said to have taken active part in the mobilisation of women from the Lagos and South West zone for the event, tagged “Nigerian Women Rally for Peace and Empowerment.” She was also said to have played a prominent role in the organisation of the rally, staged under the auspices of WCDI. The late Mrs. Adisa was said to have left Abuja in the early hours of Friday August 16 with five others in her car. A truck whose driver had lost control reportedly ran into her vehicle at a spot close to some roadside fish sellers on the outskirts of the capital city. She was said to have died immediately, while the other occupants of the vehicle suffered high degrees of injuries and were rushed to the Gwagwalada General Hospital before they were transferred to a private hospital run by expatriates in Abuja. Among those injured were: Mrs. Ifeoma Chima (Ward F, Ifako/Ijaiye); Mrs. Bisi Olorunda (Oshodi/Isolo); two others simply identified as Mrs. Jimoh (Ward E Ifako/Ijaiye) and Akin, and one other unidentified person. A source, who spoke in confidence, explained that the deceased had planned to leave Abuja around 10 am penultimate Friday because a friend of hers was scheduled to travel with her. But she later
