Unstoppable: Funke Akindele is on the top of her game


Whether she left her husband or he left her, Funke Akindele is still on top of her game. Of course, she has not allowed her marital saga to weigh her down; the actress is still on a roller coaster, upping her game.
Now, Funke is among other Nigerian actresses featuring in the Nigeria adaption of the world acclaimed stage play, For Coloured Girls.
Directed by award playwright/ stage director Wole Oguntokun, For Coloured Girls is produced by ´Keke Hammond and tells the story of seven women who have suffered oppression in a racist and sexist society. The story consists seven nameless African-American women only identified by the colours they wore.

The play features actresses like Carol King, Osas Ighodaro, Matilda Obaseki ,Oreka Godis, Diana Yekinni and Ade Laoye.
Speaking about the stage play, Carol King said, “Being a
Coloured Girl goes beyond skin colour. For me, it represents the travails every girl-child goes through and the fortitude needed for her individual journey to womanhood.”
In her own remarks, Osas said, “To be an artistic voice today and directly or indirectly touching base with past and current issues concerning all women and the girl-child means the world to me.”
