A kingdom in Delta State known as IGBODO has made history and entered the Guinness Book of Records by becoming the community with the youngest monarch after a one day old baby was crowned its king yesterday.
In an unprecedented development, kingmakers in Igbodo in Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State, crowned the young prince monarch yesterday.
He was crowned just a few hours after his birth within the hospital environment to forestall any succession controversy in future.

Named Ugochukwu, the baby was crowned by the leader of a delegation from the Igbodo palace at St Luke’s Hospital Asaba, where he was delivered. Igbodo elders decided on that course of action to address the succession issue once and for all and end the succession disputes that have dogged their community for years.
Ugochukwu was delivered on Thursday night and by yesterday morning he was crowned king. Chief Eugene Iyeke of the ruling house of Igbodo led the delegation to Asaba with members of the Obi-in-council and notable indigenes.
Obi Ikechukwu Osedume I, the Obi of Igbodo, succumbed to the wishes of his people by formally marrying an indigene of the community in accordance to the native law and custom early in October last year. His wife, called Onyinyechukwu, a native of Igbodo, bore the boy that was crowned yesterday morning.
