Memphis Police Department is investigating a Sheffield Elementary School teacher that was accused of punching a 5-year-old girl. The little girl, Payden McConnell, woke up after the incident with a swollen face and even a black eye. When her mother, Tiffany, noticed her contusions she had no idea how that could have happened.  “I asked her what happened. She told me her teacher pushed her down and punched her, and I was devastated.”
Tiffany said the school’s principal informed her that another child witnessed the incident so how discreet could this woman be after all. “My child is afraid to go back around the school and I don’t blame here either,” since choices are limited, she has decided to home-school her daughter for the rest of the year.

Shelby County Schools said in a statement, “The District is investigating these allegations, and the teacher has been suspended pending the outcome of the investigation.” Hopefully this woman gets locked up for a long time because she obviously traumatized the little girl along with whoever witnessed her getting hit.
Occurrences like this remind us that we should always put our kids first. We must listen to our kids and keep an eye out on them even when they don’t know we are looking.
