'My father (MKO) is greater than Obasanjo' - Hafsat Abiola-Costello

Hafsat Abiola-Costello, daughter of late politician/businessman Chief Moshood Abiola, at a function to mark the 18th anniversary of her mother, Kudirat Abiola's death, yesterday June 4th said her father is greater than former President Olusegun Obasanjo and did not need any recognition from him.

Hafsat made the remark in response to the recognition Obasanjo gave her father while speaking at a function recently. The former president had said;
"Ogun State would have produced three presidents if not for bad belle. I want to agree with him (Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo) that Abiola sacrificed for the nation”

Mrs Abiola-Costello said Obasanjo’s recognition of her late father was unnecessary...
“I feel that if he wanted to recognize MKO Abiola now, it’s good for him. But, MKO Abiola was always the greater man. And you cannot recognize somebody that is more than yourself. MKO Abiola did not require General Obasanjo to recognize him. He (Abiola) required the Nigerian people to see his heart. And the Nigerian people did. That was why they rewarded him with the June 12 election, an election that was so free that no Nigerian leader can claim that kind of mandate even till today,” she stated.
