In the Yoruba movie industry, there are several actresses who are putting in their best to make it to the top. Among these ladies, is sexy actress, Toyin Aimakhu Johnson, who is now the most sought –after actress in the Yoruba movie industry after displacing Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele.

Before now, especially after the release of her blockbuster movie, Jenifa, Funke Akindele became the hottest and highest paid actress. Several companies in Nigeria endorsed her as their brand ambassador. It came as a shock when news broke that the actress together with Eniola Badmus had left Nollywood to be featuring in movies produced in Enugu and Asaba. Immediately she left, Edo state born actress Toyin Aimakhu became the favorite actress to replace her.

Many film makers came calling afterwards and this landed her several endorsements deals. Lately, Toyin Aimakhu has been very active in the Yoruba movie industry, with series of movie script on her table. Right now, she is the highest paid Yoruba actress. She was also elected as Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) vice president south west in October 16th 2015.

Born September 5, 1984 in Auchi, a town in Edo state in Southern Nigeria but spent her early life in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo state. She obtained a Higher National Diploma Certificate in Marketing before she proceeded to Olabisi Onabanjo University, where she received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Philosophy.

She began acting in 2003, when Bukky Wright visited Ibadan to shoot a movie and gave her a trial in a movie directed by Tope Idowu. Over the years, she has produced and featured in several Nigerian films. In 2013 she was nominated for best supporting actress for her role in a movie titled Ebimi Ni at the Best of Nollywood Awards.

She never wanted to be an actress but a physiotherapist because she loves attending to people and taking care of them. Married to Adeniyi Johnson, when asked how she combines acting with her married life she said ‘‘lots of people judge you because of what they see in the movies, they don’t understand that it’s just a job. There is a sort of stigma on actresses. Being an actress does not affect my married life at all.
