It was an amazing moment yesterday 24th July 2016 as the much talked about City People Entertainment Awards finally took place at Yard 158, Kudirat Abiola Way, Ikeja Lagos, where the winners from different categories in the Yoruba/English/Hausa Movie industry, music industry, as well as Ghanaian entertainment industry were emerged.
The new set of actors; tipped to become the best actor of the 2016 Award are seasoned actor, Adeniyi Johnson, Lateef Adedimeji, Damola Olatunji and controversial actor, Ibrahim Chatta.
Though, these actors are very brilliant when it comes to role interpretation. They worked extraordinarily to take over the industry in the last one year, and whosoever wins the award will ultimately become the new king of the Yoruba movie industry for the year.
At the star studded event yesterday, the Olabisi Onabanjo University graduate, Lateef was announced as the winner of the 2016 City People Entertainment award. He climbed the stage with Adeniyi Johnson and others to receive the award.
Meanwhile, a few weeks ago, when the management of City People unveiled the nominees list for 2016, the aggrieved actor, Ibrahim Chatta, who was in the Best Actor of the year category, rejected the nomination and appealed to his fans and followers not to vote for him because he is not interested in the award. He took to his Facebook page to discourage his fans from voting for him. He wrote, “I’d like to appeal to my friends, fans and folks not to vote for me on the City People’s best actor of the year nomination. “Please do not vote for me, as I am not interested and I believe most of the film awards in Nigeria are not credible enough. “So I won’t allow anybody or organization rubbish my God-given talents,” he said.
