Lagos Bank Robberies: SARS Gets New Boss

Lagos Bank Robberies: SARS Gets New Boss
The Lagos state police command has appointed James Okeke to head the command’s Special Anti-Robbery Squad. Deputy Superientendent Okeke was a former deputy to Abba Kyari, the former officer in charge of SARS.

Before his appointment Okeke was deployed in controversial circumstances to the Area F police command, Ikeja, as a deputy crime officer.
Our correspondent learnt that Okeke, who had barely a month before he retired from the force was posted back to head SARS following successive bank robberies in the Ikorodu area of the state.
A police source said :”The Lagos State police command is embarrassed by the incessant bank robberies in the state. The CP is under pressure from the Force Headquarters and the Lagos State government to stop the increasing bank robberies in the state. He had to call on old hands to help fish out the armed robbers so he settled for DSP Okeke. The CP was under pressure to recall the former OC SARS Abba Kyari but there are several petitions against Kyari over extra judicial killing of suspects under his watch and the Force headquarters is investigating him”.
Armed robbers stormed two banks in Ikorodu area of the state carting off millions of naira.
