The teenager, a student of the Itam Secondary School, was arrested when the police intercepted the tricycle (Keke), she and the 23-year-old Eton had boarded and a search revealed the gun concealed in her school bag.
According to the Commissioner of Police in the state, Murtala Mani, the police were on a stop and search patrol and when the Keke was stopped, one of the officers noticed that Eton slyly slipped the pistol to the girl who concealed it in her bag.
When asked how she came about the firearm, Udeme stated that they were returning from a vigil when the police came around their tricycle, seized the gun and arrested them, revealing that she knew her boyfriend to be a cultist but had not seen him with a gun before that fateful day.
“We were on our way back home from a vigil which a friend invited us to. When my boyfriend saw the police, he passed the gun to me; I collected it and put it in my bag. So, when the police came, they collected the gun from me and arrested both of us,” Udeme confessed.
The owner of the gun, Eton, also confessed that was a member of a cult group known as KK.
“My girlfriend was not aware that I was carrying a gun. I was wearing a pullover and when we were coming back in the morning, she was feeling cold so I decided to give her the pullover and the gun was inside the pullover.”
